Access to Work is a government scheme which can help Deaf people in work to pay for interpreters, communication equipment or fares to work. An assessor decides what help the Deaf employee needs and the employer is reimbursed for the most of the cost of the interpreter, or other aid, by Access to Work.
Deaf people can also receive Access To Work if they are self-employed.
Deaf employees are able to choose which interpreters they would like to support them and this website is a useful resource for this. Booking a local interpreter directly is straightforward and economical.
